ICE arrested about 300 workers Tuesday in a raid at the Columbia Farms poultry processing plant in Greenville, South Carolina. The result was part of a 10-month investigation into the plant’s employment practices. According to CNN, about 58 of those arrested were allowed to return home for humanitarian reasons, and in addition, had resulted in criminal charges being filed against 11 supervisors and a human resources manager.

Largest workplace raid… again

Laurel, Miss. replaces Postville, Iowa, as the biggest workplace immigration raid in U.S. history, with nearly 600 people arrested. Of those, about 100 were given tracking bracelets. Nearly 475 detainees are said to have been transferred to an ICE detention facility in Jena, Louisiana. The raid occurred at Howard Industries, the largest employer in Jones County. According to an ICE spokesperson, the raid was the result of a three-year investigation upon being tipped off by a union member.
